Your Apple AirPods are very easy to pair with other Apple devices. And with that tiny button on the back of the case, it also connects with other third-party devices. But by default, Apple AirPods refer to themselves as “ Owner Name AirPods” on Apple devices and simply “AirPods” on other devices. But if you want to rename your AirPods, here are some steps on how to change the name of your AirPods on any device.
Most devices require your AirPods to be plugged in (not just paired) while you rename them.

How to change the name of your AirPods on Windows PC
It’s a rare combination, but a lot of people still use Windows PCs for official work, mostly if you’re working with documentation and otherwise in the Apple ecosystem. So here’s a trick to rename your AirPods to Windows PC. I use the term “trick” because it doesn’t even touch the Bluetooth menu.
Open Control Panel from the Start menu and search for Hardware and Sound.
Click Devices and Printers to see all external devices connected to your computer. The icons in this section may not accurately represent your device, but only hint what kind of device it is. Windows icons are still a bit archaic.
Find your AirPods and right click on the icon. It should be a headphone icon, but it may differ from system to system. Click Properties from the right-click menu to open the settings window for your AirPods.
Once you’re in the properties menu, click on the Bluetooth tab. You will see the name of your AirPod right at the top of the window. Just edit the name and save your changes. A little troubleshooting for those who don’t see the effect of the changed name, just unplug and re-plug your AirPods in the Bluetooth menu and the changes will appear.
