Here’s How You Can Change Instagram App Icon.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Instagram hid an Easter egg in the app that allows you to revert to the old icons that were on Instagram. This is how you can change the Instagram app.
Change the Instagram application icon on your smartphone
First, we need to make sure that the Instagram app on your smartphone is updated to the latest version. This feature is available in version 162.0. The following steps are the same on both Android and iOS devices. Go to the Play Store or App Store and see if your Instagram app is updated or not.
After making sure the app is up to date, open the Instagram app and tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner of the app. Now click the Hamburger button in the upper right corner to open the menu.
Click the Settings button to open the settings page. You won’t find an option to change the app icon as it is hidden. You will need to swipe down from the top of the page.
When you swipe down, you will notice a few emojis at the top of the page, keep swiping down until you see a hidden menu.
Viola, here you will find all the icons that Instagram has officially used, and you can choose which icon you want on your smartphone. The icons also show the date when the icons were first introduced. For example, I wanted to select the Original icon. Click on the icon of your choice and that’s it.
It was a quick way to change the Instagram app icon on your smartphone. I, for one, welcome this addition to the app, and would like this feature to be permanent as iOS 14 opens its doors to customize the home screen. What do you think of this Easter egg? Let me know in the comments below.
