How to Center Taskbar Icons in Windows 10.
Much of my work time revolves around using WordPress, searching the web, and endless amounts of YouTube. So I just use a few applications like Chrome, Photoshop, Wordpad, etc. For quick access, I pinned these icons to the taskbar. However, I really want the icons to be in the middle like you have on a Mac or Chromebook. Not only are they easy to get hold of, but they also look smooth. So here’s how to center taskbar icons in Windows 10.
How to center taskbar icons in Windows 10
1. Falcon X
It is an open source utility for Windows. One of the many features is to move the taskbar icons to the center. All you have to do is download and install the app. As soon as you open the app, all of your icons are automatically moved to the center, so you don’t have to manually adjust any settings yourself.

You can find the app in the taskbar from where you can report bugs, check for updates, and change settings. Another way to center icons is with the Center Between Launch and Search, which you’ll find at the bottom of the preferences window. Icons will be placed in the middle if you have other items on the taskbar, such as search or start tab, etc. You will also find a Position option that allows you to place icons anywhere on the taskbar. Just move the slider to adjust it as you like. I suggest enabling “Run on Startup” if you want your icons to be centered on every boot.
While I was using it, it crashed several times, causing the icons in the center to wobble.
What’s not good
- No reset button
- Unable to uninstall
- Unstable at times
- Stays on even after exiting the application
Get Falcon X from the Microsoft Store ($ 1.09) or free download.
2. The manual method
Here’s another way to center the icons.
- Create a new folder on your desktop.
- Right-click on the taskbar, select the toolbar at the top, then tap the new toolbar.
- Now select an empty folder on your desktop.
- You will see a new folder added to the taskbar and place it to the left of all the other icons.
- Now just move the new folder by dragging the divider to the center
You can also use the folder for the data you want to keep close at hand. If you want to remove the folder icon, you can simply turn off the title display and name display by right clicking on the toolbar.
So, all your icons are easy to center. I’m sure you don’t have to go to your desktop over and over again to open frequently used applications. Try using both Falcon Xs as this is a very small application. You can also try the manual method, whichever you prefer. There is another minimal App Center taskbar on GitHub that does the same. So here’s how to place icons on the taskbar. Enjoy!
