How to Enable Fingerprint Lock on WhatsApp for Android.
WhatsApp added the much-needed security feature, TouchID and FaceID blocking to iOS earlier in 2019 and finally decided to roll out the feature to Android as well. While you can already do this with third-party apps, it’s best if WhatsApp offers it natively. Let’s set up fingerprint lock on WhatsApp.
When WhatsApp rolled out this feature to iOS, support for ToucID and FaceID was rolled out at the same time, which means this blocking will work on every iOS device with these features. Android, however, is diverse, so currently only fingerprint support is implemented. There is no information on whether other security features such as Face unlock or Iris unlock will be added in a future update, but the chances are slim.
Enable fingerprint lock on WhatsApp for Android
Step 1. Start by updating WhatsApp to the latest version if you haven’t already. This feature was added in WhatsApp version 2.19.308, so make sure it is updated.
Step 2: Open WhatsApp on your Android smartphone, go to options and open the settings page.
Step 3: Click on “Account” to open the account settings and click on “Privacy”.
Step 4. Under the “Privacy” tab at the bottom, you will see the “Fingerprint Lock” option. Tap to open options.
Step 5: Turn on the fingerprint lock option, you can choose from three modes; immediately, 1 minute 30 minutes.
That’s all you have to do and every time you open WhatsApp you are greeted by the lock screen and you will need to touch your fingerprint sensor to access WhatsApp.
Step 6. If you have not enrolled your fingerprint on your smartphone, you will receive the “Set up fingerprint” message. You will need to register your fingerprint on your phone and you can do this in your smartphone settings.
That’s it, your conversations are now protected from finger tracking, this feature won’t even allow anyone to access WhatsApp, even if they know your phone’s password, unless they have also registered their fingerprint. You can still answer calls if the app is locked, and if you haven’t set up a fingerprint on your phone, you’ll need to enable it in your phone settings.
