How to Use iPhone Gadgets for Weather Forecasting and More.
The iOS 14 update brought many changes to the iPhone interface with many new features and functional differences. One of these innovations is iPhone widgets.
Widgets are information, features, or images that you can add to your iPhone home screen for instant access or viewing. There are small, medium, and large widgets that you can add to your phone. There are many different options for what you can add, and many new ways to organize your home screen.
If you’re wondering how to add iPhone widgets, how to use them, and everything you can do with them, here’s a guide to widgets on your iPhone.
How To Add Widgets For Weather, Time, And More
Adding widgets to your home screen is incredibly easy. All you have to do is hold the home screen as if you were moving apps. Any apps displayed on the screen will start shaking and a dash icon will appear on them.
The buttons should also appear at the top of the screen. To add an iPhone widget, click the plus icon and the widget screen will appear.
You can search for specific types of widgets using the search bar or browse the available ones.
For example, to add a weather widget, search for or find the weather app widget.
Then you can select the size by swiping right or left over the options. After finding the one you want, click “Add Widget” at the bottom. Then it will appear on your home screen.
Some other iPhone widgets you can add are calendar, news, notes, app suggestions window, and clock. There are many others, so check out the options on your iPhone.
How toMake Custom iPhone Widgets
You may find you want to add even more customization options for your widgets. There are now many apps in the app store that let you create your own iPhone widgets, where you can manage their color, fonts and content.
There are also apps that provide you with new widgets to use, such as motivational quotes, minigames, or habit trackers. If you search for “widget apps” in the app store, you can find many of them.
If you want to add photos to your home screen or want to be able to change the color of some of the main widgets, Widgetsmith is a good option for that. If you want more detailed weather widgets, there is an app called Lee Line that can provide you with just that for your home screen.
Looking for quotes to add to your widgets? Motivation. Daily Quotes is an app that allows you to view famous quotes and add your favorites to your iPhone screen so you can see when you open it.
As an example, let’s see how to add your own widgets using Widgetsmith.
When you open the app, you will see three sizes available. You can add more by clicking Add (size) widget. Then click on the created widget, then click on the “Default Widget” field to edit its appearance.
For free options, you can choose between Time, Date, Custom, Calendar, Reminders, Health & Activity and Astronomy widgets. Each time you choose, you will have different ways to customize the widget.
For example, if you select the Date widget, you can change the font, tint color, background color, and border color.
After creating the desired widget on the home screen, exit the application. Then go to the main editing screen by holding on the screen. Click the plus sign and search for Widgetsmith. Then choose what size you want to add to your screen, corresponding to the size of the widget created in the app.
Once added, it may not be the widget you want. However, you can change which one appears. Tap Done to exit screen editing, then hold the widget you want to edit. Click on “Change Widget”, then on the size button that appears.
You will be presented with a list of all the widgets you have created in the application that you can switch between. As soon as you click on one, it will automatically switch.
How to Edit Your Home Screen’s Apps And Widgets
It might seem a little confusing at first when you move all these widgets and apps around the home screen. However, there are a few things you should know that will make organizing your screens much easier.
After you press and hold the home screen so that it can be edited, a dash will appear in the upper left corner of apps and widgets. Clicking on them will remove them from the screen.
In the case of apps, instead of completely uninstalling them, you can now move them to your app library, which you can access by swiping all the way to the right with your finger.
If you scroll all the way to the left, you’ll open a screen where you can place iPhone widgets if you don’t want them to appear on your main home screen. By keeping one pressed here, you can edit the widget, remove it, or add more by scrolling all the way down and hitting Edit and then Customize when things start to shake.
On the main home screen, you can still group apps together as you did in previous iOS versions, by dragging at least two together to create a box.
You will also find that the home screen is now divided into sections.
For example, one home screen might contain six small iPhone widgets or 24 apps. Medium widgets are equal in size to two small widgets, and large widgets are equal in size to two medium ones.
If you want a seamless home screen, keeping these space sections in mind will help you organize your apps and widgets and make good use of all your space.

How To Use Big Sur’s Notification Center Widgets
In Apple’s macOS Big Sur, the Notification Center is the place where all your widgets and (unsurprisingly) notifications are housed. Normally hidden off-screen, it provides a quick and convenient way to catch up on any alerts you have received over the course of the day, as well as useful widgets like weather forecasts, your calendar, and more.
Notification Center has existed on Macs since 2012, but it has seen a big update with macOS Big Sur. Now, your alerts and widgets are grouped together, simplifying the experience. That new layout means it all works a bit differently from previous years, but with our guide in hand, you will be up to speed in no time.
