How to Transfer Files from PC to iPhone Without Itunes.
A few years ago Apple, for some mysterious reason, decided to completely remove the file transfer feature from iTunes. Now you are forced to take a convoluted approach that uses the Photos app instead. It also makes it harder to copy arbitrary files to and from iPad or iPhone.
For me, an experienced iOS user, this was a big inconvenience. Because of the screen size, my iPad 10.5 is the best device for watching movies and shows. I need a way to rip videos to iPad in order to watch many of them. Since iTunes is no longer a viable solution, third-party tools have become the only option. This is where iFunBox and Fileza come to the rescue. Together, these two tools allow me to copy arbitrary files to and from my iPad and PC, and play videos in players like VLC without having to go through the headache-inducing sync process. First of all, it’s important to note that this approach requires a hack. I settled on iOS 12.4 to continue to enjoy the convenience of this approach. If you are jailbroken, please follow the steps below to learn how to transfer and use files on iPad or iPhone without iTunes.

Part One: Installing Filza
Filza is a robust file management solution. This gives you almost the same control over the iOS file structure as you would on a standard iOS device. This is a jailbreak app, meaning you will need to install it from Cydia.
Step 1. Launch Cydia
Step 2. You will need to click on the search icon in the lower right corner of the Cydia interface
Step 3. Enter “Filza” in the search bar, then select Filza.
Step 4. Click “Install” in the upper right corner
Step 5. Click Submit
This will download Filza from the Cydia repository and install it. Now it will be available to you like a regular application.
Part Two: Installing iFunBox
Step 1. Install iTunes if you haven’t already. This is because the Apple mobile device driver is included with the iTunes app for Windows. Without this, iFunbox will not work properly. Visit the iTunes install page here. Then scroll down and click “Windows” where it says: Looking for other versions? This will result in a regular iTunes app instead of a buggy version of the Microsoft Store.
Step 2. Download and install iFunBox. You can get it by following link . Just click where it says “V3.0”. To install, simply double-click the installation file and continue with the normal installation process.
Part three: copy files to and from PC and iOS device
Step 1. Connect your iOS device to your computer using Thunderbolt / USB C or 18-pin connector.
Step 2. Make sure your iOS device is unlocked. Enter your password or use TouchID if you’ve set it up.
Step 3. Open iFunbox on your desktop. First, a boot screen will be shown with the words “connect to your device”. After that, you will be presented with the interface shown below. If you want to click on Toolbar first.
Step 4. Now click on Custom Filesystem.
Step 5: You can choose any folder for copying files. However, I suggest using the Downloads folder. Filza is easy to access later. Select this folder now
Step 6. Click “Copy from PC”. You will be taken to the folder menu
Step 7. Click the file that you want to transfer to your iOS device and click Open.
Step 8. If you followed these steps correctly, the file transfer will start in the iFunBox.
Part Four: Copy Files to Computer from iOS Device
Do all of the above. However, in step 5, do the following:
Step 5a. Click the file you want to transfer to your computer
Step 6a. Click Copy to PC
Step 7a. Select the folder on your PC where you want to transfer the file
Step 8a. Transfer will start
Part Five: Using Filza to Access Your Files
Filza is a very reliable file manager. It has tons of functions. But today’s guide will only focus on accessing the video file you copied.
Step 1. The first thing to do is navigate to your downloads folder. iFunbox and Filza present the iOS folder structure in a slightly different way. In Filza, you will need to navigate to var / mobile / Media / Downloads. Take a look at the following screens to find out how to get there.
Step 2. When you are there, you will need to change the default application for your video files. Many file formats are not supported by either the standard or built-in Filza player. If you downloaded a third party video player app such as VLC, you can select it by following these steps:
2a. Click on the “I” icon on the right
2b. Select “open with”
2c. Scroll down to select the desired video player, then tap on it.
Now, by default, videos of this format will open in this particular player.
That’s all. Apple can make it very confusing for your computer and iOS device to play well together. This does not mean that it is impossible. By following these steps, you will be able to copy files to and from your iOS device and play them locally. It is as reliable as the file copy system on an Android device. We hope you found this useful.
