How to Quickly Switch Audio Output in Android 10.
While Android 10 hasn’t undergone aesthetic changes, it comes with a lot of big changes like gesture navigation, dark mode, privacy changes, and more. Along with that, you have some nuanced changes like Wi-Fi password sharing, battery indicator, digital wellbeing for your family, and a new over-the-top Bluetooth menu. My favorite is the fast audio output switch. This feature is present in several Android skins like Oxygen OS, but now that it has migrated to Android 10, it should be available for all skins. Meanwhile, here’s how you quickly switch audio output in Android 10.
Fast switching audio output in Android 10
Previously, when multiple devices were connected to your Android, the audio played on the last one. If you need to switch audio to another device, you will have to unpair the first one. However, this changes in Android 10, and you can quickly toggle audio output through the volume menu itself.
First, connect your Bluetooth audio device to your Android smartphone. Then press the volume rocker and you’ll see the settings icon just below the volume slider. Click on it and a dialog box will open at the bottom.

In the dialog box, click “Play Media to” and you will be taken to the available Bluetooth audio devices. For example, if you want to switch the output from the Bluetooth headphone to the speaker of your phone, click This Device. It will switch the audio output to the phone speaker.
In addition, you will also see that Bluetooth devices in the menu will be clearly color-coded.
Similarly, the SoundSwitch application can be used to switch audio between Bluetooth devices on a Windows PC. For example, with the app installed, you can press the CTRL + ALT + F11 hotkey to toggle between headphone audio output to speaker without disconnecting the headphones from the Bluetooth menu.
